Granola runs on Mac, Windows, and iPhone without ever joining meetings as a visible bot participant: it captures system audio directly from the device, transcribes using Deepgram and Assembly AI in real time, and generates structured meeting notes, action items, and AI chat context using OpenAI and Anthropic models. Granola is partially autonomous: users must manually start recording before each meeting as it does not auto-join or auto-record, but transcription, note generation, action item extraction, and AI chat across meeting history all run automatically without further intervention after recording starts. Business and Enterprise users can configure Recipes, post-meeting custom AI tasks that execute automatically when meetings end. Teams requiring HIPAA compliance for healthcare workflows cannot use Granola: no HIPAA certification or BAA is offered at any tier. Teams needing Salesforce CRM sync should evaluate Fathom Business at $25 per user per month or Fireflies.ai Business at $19 per user per month, both of which include native Salesforce integration.
