Bolt.new is StackBlitz's AI app builder. It generates full-stack web applications, websites and prototypes from a chat in the browser, and runs them on StackBlitz's WebContainer technology, which executes Node.js inside the browser. The agent writes the code, runs it, tests it and fixes errors as it goes. Users pick between Standard and Max agents, and since September 2026 a Bolt Forge agent that runs on open-source models. Bolt says 75% of the Fortune 500 use it. Design systems are a central feature. Design system agents let teams bring their own tokens, components and repositories into Bolt, and administrators can set a default design system so generated apps follow company branding. Bolt imports Figma frames, accepts one-click exports from Google Stitch, and connects to external tools through Connectors, which run on MCP: Notion, Linear, GitHub, Miro, Sentry, Context7, Granola and Jira are built in, and any remote MCP server can be added as a custom Connector. Hosting, databases, user management and authentication, SEO settings and custom domains are built in. Pricing is in US dollars and the pricing page shows monthly prices by default, with up to 28% off for yearly billing. Free costs $0 and includes 300K tokens a day, 1M tokens a month, Bolt-branded hosting, a 10MB upload limit and up to 333K web requests. Pro is $25 a month billed monthly or $18 a month billed yearly, with no daily token limit, 10M tokens a month that roll over, custom domains, a 100MB upload limit and up to 1M web requests. Teams is $30 per member a month billed monthly or $27 billed yearly, adding centralized billing, admin controls, user provisioning, private NPM registries and design system knowledge. Enterprise is priced by quote and adds SSO, audit logs, compliance support and 24/7 support. Token use varies with the size of each build, and larger projects draw down the monthly allowance faster. Bolt Forge usage is drawn from its own monthly allowance, and individual Pro plans get up to 50 times more Forge usage at no extra cost through October 14, 2026. The official GitHub repository, stackblitz/bolt.new, has 16.6k stars and serves as a public reference rather than the actively developed product, and a separate community project, bolt.diy, supports self-hosting with any model. Bolt suits product managers, founders, designers and agencies who want to go from a prompt or a design to a running web app without setting up a local environment. Developers who want an agent inside their own editor or terminal on an existing repository should also look at Cursor or Claude Code, and teams that deploy on Vercel should look at v0 by Vercel. Teams that need native iOS and Android apps released to the App Store and Google Play should look at CatDoes. Current state Q3 2026: Bolt launched Bolt Forge as a research preview on September 14, 2026. Forge sessions are shared for model training only with opt-in consent, and de-identified sessions go into datasets Bolt licenses to AI developers, starting with Arcee AI. StackBlitz's privacy policy, updated September 22, 2026, allows content created from October 7, 2026 to be used to train models and for dataset licensing unless the user opts out in account settings. Accounts in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and Teams and Enterprise workspaces, are excluded. Bolt holds SOC 2 Type 2 and states GDPR and CCPA compliance, and it announced availability through the Microsoft Marketplace and Microsoft 365 in May 2026.
