Leapsome is a modular AI-powered people platform combining HRIS, performance management, employee engagement, learning and development, compensation and AI Agents in one system for European mid-market and enterprise organizations. Founded in 2016 by Jenny Podewils and Kajetan Armansperg, and headquartered in Berlin with a New York office, Leapsome states it serves 2,000+ organizations. Modules are Recruiting (Early Access), HRIS, Reviews, Surveys, Goals, Learning, Compensation and Time Tracking, with Compensation benchmarks and Learning content as add-ons. AI Agents, Workflows, Analytics, Q and A Boards, Meetings, Instant Feedback, Competencies, Whistleblowing and Form Builder are included with the platform rather than sold separately. Leapsome publishes a first-party MCP server. Its manifest describes Leapsome MCP as a Model Context Protocol surface offering read and, with explicit tenant opt-in plus per-user consent, write access on behalf of a signed-in employee via a user-minted bearer token. It exposes 24 scopes, of which 18 are read and 6 are write, covering people, goals, meetings, absence, feedback, reviews, surveys, learning, skills, analytics, payroll, documents, forms, time tracking, approvals and workflows. Payroll is the only scope flagged sensitive. Writes use a stateless propose and confirm pattern, and destructive verbs require an explicit confirmation step before any data is mutated, so the server extends reach without removing human approval. Pricing is quote-only. Leapsome publishes no per-seat rates on any surface and states that cost depends on employee count, contract length and the modules purchased, with all contracts carrying a minimum term of one year. Multi-module and user-volume discounts are offered, along with special pricing for startups and NGOs. A 14-day free trial is available with no credit card required, which is a trial rather than a free tier. What the entry commitment does not buy is worth stating precisely. Customer Success services, meaning a dedicated CS manager and guided implementation, are available only to customers on an annual contract of EUR 6,000 or US$6,000 or more. Below that threshold, support is ongoing email plus the self-serve Success Center. This is a services threshold rather than a platform minimum, so smaller teams can still buy Leapsome. There is no setup fee and no separate implementation charge, and HRIS migration support, SSO, encryption, 38 languages and the Leapsome Academy are included with any module. The integrations directory lists roughly 80 connectors, weighted heavily toward European HRIS and payroll systems that US-first competitors rarely cover, among them Personio, HiBob, Lucca, Payfit, Nmbrs, AFAS Software, HRworks, Kenjo, Officient, Cezanne HR, BreatheHR and Sage HR. It also covers Workday, ADP, BambooHR, Gusto, Rippling, Deel, Paychex, Paycor, Paylocity and Ceridian Dayforce, applicant tracking through Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Recruitee, Comeet, Pinpoint and Cornerstone OnDemand, and identity through Okta, JumpCloud, OneLogin, Azure Active Directory and Google SSO. Leapsome suits organizations that need European coverage and depth of localization. The platform runs in 38 languages, holds ISO 27001:2022 certification, and ships a Whistleblowing module built for the EU Whistleblower Directive. Buyers wanting published per-seat rates before a sales call should compare Lattice at $4/mo billed annually. Organizations needing payroll and benefits administration as a system of record should look at Gusto at $49/mo or a dedicated payroll platform, since Leapsome prepares payroll and integrates with payroll providers rather than running it. As of Q3 2026, AI Agents are a top-level product pillar alongside HRIS and Talent Suite, with Leapy as the AI Copilot, a Development Coach and a Meeting Notetaker. Leapsome AI is powered by third-party models: its subprocessor list names OpenAI LP, Amazon Web Services for AWS Bedrock and SageMaker AI, and Google Cloud for Google Vertex AI, all recorded as generative AI providers for smart features. Terms of Service clause 10.2 states that Leapsome does not and will not permit third parties to use customer AI Content or any other customer data to improve or train AI models. Its switch promotion, which waives Leapsome platform fees while an existing HRIS contract runs out, is advertised to a maximum of March 2027. Security posture per the Leapsome trust center: ISO 27001:2022 with a published certificate, GDPR and CCPA, with a penetration test summary available on request.

Pros & Limitations

Editorial assessment

Pros

  • First-party MCP server with a published manifest exposing 24 scopes across people, goals, meetings, absence, reviews, payroll and workflows, where writes use a propose and confirm pattern and destructive verbs require explicit confirmation before data is mutated.
  • Roughly 80 native integrations weighted toward European HRIS and payroll systems that US-first competitors rarely cover, including Personio, HiBob, Lucca, Payfit, Nmbrs, AFAS Software, HRworks and Kenjo, alongside Workday, ADP, Gusto, Rippling and Deel.
  • Genuine localization depth for European buyers: the platform runs in 38 languages, holds ISO 27001:2022 certification, and includes a Whistleblowing module built for the EU Whistleblower Directive.

Limitations

  • Quote-only pricing with a one-year minimum contract, so no per-seat rate is visible on any Leapsome surface before a sales conversation.
  • Customer Success services including a dedicated CS manager and guided implementation require an annual contract of EUR 6,000 or US$6,000 or more, below which support is email and self-serve only.
  • Leapsome prepares payroll and integrates with payroll providers rather than processing it, so organizations needing payroll and benefits administration still require a separate system.

Autonomous rateLeapsome AI spans Leapy the AI Copilot, a Development Coach that turns 1:1 and review content into growth suggestions, and a Meeting Notetaker that captures and summarizes meetings. The Leapsome MCP server lets an external assistant read across people, goals, meetings, reviews and analytics, and write to goals, feedback, absence, workflows and draft reviews, but writes follow a propose and confirm pattern and destructive verbs require an explicit confirmation step. Leapsome states that humans stay in control, and managers approve all employee-facing performance and development actions.
