BambooHR is HR software for small and mid-sized organizations, from small teams up to roughly 1,000 employees. It covers employee records and self-service, hiring and onboarding with an applicant tracking system, time off and time tracking, performance management, employee experience surveys, compensation management, compliance training, and payroll and benefits administration as add-ons. BambooHR says more than 30,000 organizations use it, supporting more than 3 million employees.
Bamboo AI, introduced on July 21, 2026, is the AI layer built across the platform. BambooHR describes it answering workforce questions in plain language with charts and reports, flagging risks such as burnout or turnover, and completing routine work such as building schedules, drafting recognition messages, approving routine timesheets and adding payroll reminders to a run, with rules for what the AI can do and when human approval is required. Bamboo AI is in private beta with select customers. Each plan also includes an AI Assistant, upgraded on Pro and advanced on Elite.
BambooHR offers an open API with SDKs, and its Marketplace page lists over 150 integrations, including BambooHR-built connections to accounting tools such as QuickBooks Online, Xero and NetSuite, job boards such as ZipRecruiter, and apps for Slack and Zendesk. The BambooHR MCP server, launched with a Claude connector on October 8, 2026, lets customers ask questions about their HR data, pull reports and take actions from Claude, with BambooHR's permissions enforced. The connector is in open beta at no additional charge for customers with a Claude account.
Core is $10, Pro is $17 and Elite is $25 per employee per month in USD, with volume discounts applied automatically as headcount grows. Companies with 25 employees or fewer are billed at a flat monthly rate. Payroll, Benefits Administration and Time Tracking are add-ons, and a 15% bundle discount applies when Payroll and Benefits Administration are combined with a plan, for US employees. BambooHR offers month-to-month terms or an extended term.
Core includes hiring and onboarding, time off and benefits tracking, employee experience tools, HR insights, on-demand pay, an AI Assistant and one compliance training course. Pro adds the employee community, 15 compliance courses and an upgraded AI Assistant, and Elite adds compensation management, custom dashboards and analytics, HR benchmarks, premium services and 300+ compliance courses. BambooHR Payroll pays US-based employees, with international payroll through integrations, partners and an Employer of Record option.
BambooHR suits small and mid-sized organizations that want HR, payroll, benefits and performance in one system with published per-employee pricing and AI embedded in everyday HR work. Current state Q4 2026: BambooHR introduced Bamboo AI on July 21, 2026 in private beta, launched its MCP server and Claude connector in open beta on October 8, 2026, and announced an Employee Navigator partnership for benefit deductions on October 1. Its trust center lists SOC 1, SOC 2 Type 2, PCI DSS and the EU-US, UK and Swiss Data Privacy Frameworks, and its privacy notice covers the GDPR and CCPA. BambooHR states that Bamboo AI does not train on customer data, and that it may use aggregated, anonymized or de-identified data to evaluate and improve AI features.
