The facts

Ashby is an all-in-one recruiting platform combining ATS, analytics, sourcing, scheduling, and CRM in a single system, with AI layered across the workflow rather than bolted on. Operated by Ashby, Inc., it targets high-growth technology companies, funded startups, and scaleups from roughly 10 to 1,000+ employees. The defining strength is analytics: hiring funnel reporting, source ROI analysis, hiring manager performance, and cohort analysis are native to the ATS rather than a separate reporting layer, which gives data-driven talent teams visibility that Greenhouse or Lever require extra tooling to match. Ashby now publishes its own MCP server, currently in beta at mcp.ashbyhq.com. It is client-agnostic and works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible tool, letting agents query the recruiting pipeline, prepare for interviews, and take actions inside Ashby without leaving the assistant. An organization admin must enable it through an opt-in toggle in admin settings, and it is not available to Analytics-only organizations. Alongside it, Ashby ships an AI Assistant that takes actions across the product from a chat interface. Custom AI agents run user-written instructions and can be shared across a team, and an AI Notetaker records, transcribes, and summarizes interviews. Integration coverage runs to 200+ partners. HRIS connections include BambooHR, Rippling, Gusto, and Deel with bidirectional sync, calendars cover Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, SSO runs through Okta, background checks through Checkr, and e-signature through Dropbox Sign and Adobe Acrobat Sign. Sourcing connects to LinkedIn Recruiter and Juicebox, collaboration to Slack with automated channel creation and offer approvals, and video to Zoom. The Workday integration is API-based with bidirectional sync. Pricing is partly public and is priced per company size rather than per seat. The Foundations Plan covers up to 100 employees across five bands: $300 per month for 1 to 10 employees, $400 for 11 to 25, $500 for 26 to 50, $700 for 51 to 75, and $900 for 76 to 100. Annual commitments take 10% off, putting the entry price at $270 per month, and emerging market pricing is available on request. The Plus Plan for 101 to 1,000 employees and the Enterprise Plan for 1,000+ are both quote-only. Ashby also sells Ashby Analytics as a standalone product for organizations over 100 employees that want its reporting on top of an existing ATS instead of a full migration. Note that the pricing calculator defaults to the 11 to 25 employee band, so the figure shown on first load is not the entry price. What the entry price does not buy is the mid-market tier: any company past 100 employees moves into quote-only territory, which is the most common growth stage for Ashby customers and makes budget planning hard exactly when it matters. Several scheduling capabilities also sit behind a paid Advanced Scheduling add-on rather than the base plan. Security posture is solid but narrower than the marketing suggests. The trust center badges SOC 2 Type 2 and SOC 1 Type 2. Ashby has also certified to the US Department of Commerce that it adheres to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension, and the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework. GDPR and CCPA appear in the privacy policy as descriptions of Ashby role as a data processor and service provider rather than as certifications, so buyers requiring certified compliance should request the SOC reports directly. Ashby does not publish a statement on whether customer data is used to train AI models. Ashby is not the right fit for teams wanting a fully autonomous recruiting agent, since the workflow remains recruiter-driven even as agents take actions on their behalf. Teams wanting autonomous outbound sourcing should compare hireEZ ($494/mo) or Juicebox ($99/mo billed annually). Organizations over 1,000 employees with heavy compliance requirements should also evaluate Workday HCM and SAP SuccessFactors. Current state Q3 2026: the MCP server is live in beta across plans, AI Assistant and custom AI agents are shipping, and G2 stands at 4.7 across 115 reviews.

Pros & Limitations

Editorial assessment

Pros

  • Analytics is native to every workflow rather than a bolt-on reporting layer, covering hiring funnel, source ROI, hiring manager performance and cohort analysis without leaving the ATS.
  • Ashby publishes its own MCP server in beta, so Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can query the pipeline and take actions inside Ashby directly, which very few ATS vendors currently offer.
  • Entry pricing is genuinely public at $300 per month for teams of 1 to 10, which is a materially better evaluation experience than Greenhouse, Lever or Workable, all of which gate pricing behind sales.

Limitations

  • Anything past 100 employees moves to the quote-only Plus or Enterprise plan, so the growth stage most typical of Ashby customers cannot estimate budget without a sales conversation.
  • The pricing calculator loads on the 11 to 25 employee band rather than the minimum, so the first figure a buyer sees is $400 per month rather than the $300 entry price.
  • Only SOC 2 Type 2 and SOC 1 Type 2 are badged on the trust center: GDPR and CCPA appear in the privacy policy as processor-role descriptions rather than certifications, and no AI training policy is published.
