Otto

Otto is Astronomer's data engineering agent, and Astronomer describes it as the only agent built for Apache Airflow. It writes Dags, investigates failures and plans upgrades, grounded in public Airflow documentation, Astronomer's own compatibility knowledge and a customer's private deployment history and conventions. It runs in a terminal, inside Astro and on the desktop, and Astronomer lists availability in other AI tools over MCP as coming soon. Astronomer publishes Janus Henderson Investors as a named customer for self-healing pipelines built with Astro and Otto. Pricing reality: Otto is not sold separately and carries no price of its own. It is reached through Astro, whose pricing is usage-based and published in full without a login: Developer deployments start at $0.35 per hour and Team deployments at $0.42 per hour, with separate cluster and worker rates and a free tier to start on. Business, Enterprise, Enterprise Business Critical and Astro Private Cloud carry no published rates. Astro is also available through the AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Snowflake marketplaces. Fees are payable in US dollars under Astronomer's master subscription agreement. Teams weighing options here also look at Bruin, which is the closest peer on data pipelines rather than orchestration. There is also Hex, aimed at analysis in a notebook once the data has landed, and Sigma, which works on the warehouse itself.
