The facts

API2Cart is a unified eCommerce API that lets B2B software providers connect once and reach 70+ shopping platforms and marketplaces, including Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, PrestaShop, Wix, Squarespace, OpenCart and Shopware. Instead of building and maintaining a separate connector for every platform, a vendor calls one API of 100+ methods covering products, orders, customers, categories, inventory, baskets, shipments, returns and refunds. The buyer is a software company rather than a merchant: a SaaS product, marketplace tool, ERP, PIM, shipping or marketing platform that needs to read and write data inside its own customers' stores. Founded in 2012 as a MagneticOne product and operating as an independent company since January 2017, API2Cart reports 3,000+ global clients. Since 26 July 2026 the platform has shipped a first-party MCP server, and that is what brings it into scope here. An AI agent authenticates with a scoped MCP token, receives the tools it is allowed to use, and then reads or writes orders, products and customers across any connected store through the same unified API. The vendor names Claude, Cursor, VS Code, OpenAI Codex, Google Antigravity and LM Studio as compatible clients. Tokens are permission-scoped and an account may hold up to five active tokens. The tool list is delivered dynamically rather than published as a fixed set, so it changes when the agent switches integrations, which means the scope is documented but the enumeration is not. Integration depth is the platform's strongest attribute: 70+ native platform connectors, a documented REST API, webhooks, SDKs, and genuine bidirectional read and write rather than one-way sync. Pricing is public and self-serve across four tiers, in USD, confirmed by the terms of service, which state that all prices for the service are provided in US currency. Startup is $300 per month or $3,000 per year and includes 20,000 API requests per month and 10 connected stores. Scaling is $500 per month or $5,000 per year with 200,000 requests and 50 stores. Rapid Growth is $700 per month or $7,000 per year with 500,000 requests and 100 stores. Expansion is $1,000 per month or $10,000 per year with 1,000,000 requests and unlimited stores. Enterprise is quote-only. The vendor advertises a 16% saving for annual billing, and the toggle changes the price only: request and store allowances are identical in both billing states. What the entry price does not buy. There is no free plan, only a free trial, so the entry cost is $300 per month rather than nothing. The Startup tier's 20,000 monthly API requests is one tenth of the next tier up, which is the sharpest step in the ladder. Several platforms require a connection bridge to be uploaded into the merchant's store using FTP credentials before data can be read, and that is integration work carried by the software vendor. Every tier carries a footnote stating that additional bank, processing, receiving or intermediary fees may apply. An on-premise deployment exists and is quote-only. API2Cart is not the right fit for a team that wants an agent acting on its own internal data rather than on its customers' stores, and it is not a merchant-facing product, so a single retailer running one storefront is not the buyer. Teams that require formal security attestation before procurement should note that no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or PCI DSS claim is published anywhere on the vendor's estate, and no trust portal exists on any of its subdomains. Current state Q3 2026: the MCP server was announced on 26 July 2026 and is documented for six named clients. The changelog runs to 438 dated entries across 122 weekly releases. Independent evidence is thin for a company of this age. G2 carries 4.4 from 11 reviews on a profile that shows a Re-claim Profile prompt and lists an individual rather than the company as seller, and Capterra carries 4.9 from 14 reviews. GDPR and CCPA are the only certifications published. The CCPA disclosure is a dedicated privacy-policy section on the rights of residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and Utah, citing the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and the vendor's GDPR page describes API2Cart as a GDPR-friendly company that has taken measures to comply with EU data protection requirements. No statement about using customer data to train models appears in the privacy policy, the terms of service or the security FAQ, so that question is recorded as undisclosed rather than as a denial.

Pros & Limitations

Editorial assessment

Pros

  • Seventy-plus native platform connectors sit behind one API covering products, orders, customers, inventory, shipments, returns and refunds, which removes the per-platform connector maintenance a software vendor would otherwise carry in-house.
  • A first-party MCP server, live since July 2026, lets an AI agent read and write real store data through permission-scoped tokens, with Claude, Cursor, VS Code, OpenAI Codex, Google Antigravity and LM Studio all named by the vendor as compatible clients.
  • Pricing is public and self-serve across four tiers with request and store allowances stated on each, and the billing toggle changes price only, so committing annually does not change what the plan includes.

Limitations

  • There is no free plan, only a free trial, so the entry cost is $300 per month, and the Startup tier's 20,000 monthly API requests is one tenth of the allowance on the next tier up.
  • No SOC 2, ISO 27001 or PCI DSS claim is published anywhere on the vendor's estate and no trust portal exists on any of its subdomains, which will stall procurement at security-conscious buyers.
  • Several supported platforms require a connection bridge uploaded into the merchant's store using FTP credentials before data can be read, so onboarding a store is not always a credentials-only step.
