Pros

• ✓Runs in the terminal on Linux, macOS and Windows, inside JetBrains IDEs and Android Studio, and in CI through a GitHub Action and GitLab CI/CD.

Limitations

• ⚠The free start includes 5 AI credits, and cloud use beyond them needs a JetBrains AI plan, a Junie API key or the developer's own provider keys.
• ⚠Junie Local requires an Apple Silicon M5 Mac with macOS 26 or later and 64 GB of RAM, and runs one fixed Qwen3.6-27B model for now.
• ⚠Remote mode needs a JetBrains Account or Junie API key sign-in, and is not available through JetBrains AI Enterprise.

Pros

• ✓Developers can log in with GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT Plus or Pro to reuse existing subscription quotas, or connect any of 75+ providers including local models, with no separate API billing required.
• ✓Multi-session parallel agents run on the same project, and MCP client support covers local and remote servers with OAuth, so tools such as Sentry and Context7 connect inside the same workflow.
• ✓No code or context is stored, the agent is MIT licensed, and Anomaly Innovations publishes a SOC 2 Type 2 report through its Trust Center.

Limitations

• ⚠Permissions start permissive: the Build agent edits files and runs shell commands without an approval prompt until a permission config is written, with only repeated identical calls and paths outside the project gated.
• ⚠Model access is separate from the free agent, so developers pay a provider directly or through Go or Zen, and manage keys and accounts for each provider they use.
• ⚠Enterprise per-seat pricing is quote-only, and the SOC 2 report and Data Processing Agreement are released through the Trust Center on request.
