Pros & Limitations

Editorial assessment

ClickUp Brain

Pros

  • ✓Super Agents, Autopilot Agents and AI Skills act on tasks, docs and chat inside the workspace, and Enterprise Search covers the workspace plus connected apps.
  • ✓ClickUp runs its own MCP server on every plan, can use external MCP servers as a client, and lists more than 1,000 integrations.
  • ✓AI pricing is published, from $9 per user per month billed yearly, and that add-on includes chat with models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.

Limitations

  • –AI is sold as an add-on on top of a paid workspace plan, so the lowest full price is the $7 Unlimited plan plus the $9 Brain AI add-on per user. Free Forever gets only a one-time trial.
  • –AI use is metered in Super Credits, 1,500 or 5,000 per user a month depending on the add-on, and more cost $10 per 10,000.
  • –Without the Everything AI add-on the MCP server is capped at 100 calls a day on Free Forever, 300 on Unlimited and 1,000 on Business, and Enterprise pricing is by quote.

Microsoft Copilot Cowork

Pros

  • ✓Carries out multi-step work across Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive and SharePoint and returns finished files and messages, with scheduled and event-driven tasks that run without a new prompt each time.
  • ✓Extends through custom skills and Microsoft 365 App Store plugins, including Dynamics 365, Fabric IQ, Asana, Box, HubSpot, monday.com and Notion, and can complete browser tasks in Edge on the user's own device.
  • ✓Runs inside the Microsoft 365 tenant with the user's existing permissions, pauses for approval before sensitive actions, and gives admins spending policies, per-user limits and a tenant switch for Anthropic models.

Limitations

  • –Requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license plus usage-based billing in Copilot Credits, and Microsoft publishes no fixed per-task price, so cost depends on the models, context, tools and runtime each task uses.
  • –Anthropic models are off by default for customers in the EU, EFTA and UK, and are not offered in GCC High, DoD or other sovereign clouds, so model choice varies by region and cloud.
  • –Browser tasks work only in Cowork on the web with Microsoft Edge installed and must be turned on by an admin, and the App skill for building apps is limited to the Frontier program.
